3D Television Technology

3d-television-technology3D Television technology is the next generation innovation in television viewing. Over the decade, though, high definition televisions have made TV viewing a memorable experience by bringing about the much needed magnetism to your living rooms along with the added attraction of larger screens, home theater systems, great picture clarity, surround sound and all, thus creating a higher impact experience. Well, out there, another technology has come to hold sway and rule the roost by captivating audiences and keeping them glued to the television screen, namely, 3D Television. This new technology is bound to raise the bar higher in terms of ushering in a new realm in TV viewership across the world. 3D technology apart, much will depend upon the 3D content in bringing it home. For the 3D Television, it is early days, though. The world over, manufacturers and broadcasters are seriously experimenting about the extra dimension with the primary objective of commissioning this concept as quickly as possible and launch commercially viable 3D TV sets before the end of 2010.

Talking about 3D and the brain, the human eye has the ability to view things with a wide perspective and depth of field as well. The brain goes on to process two separate images as received by each of the eyes which are at a slight distance from one another and also view the world slightly differently. When we look at, for example, two chocolate cakes, the brain merges two separate scenes in order to create a combined amalgamated image with depth. This allows for focusing on specific areas in the scene. Going on to deliver two different views of the three dimensional world onto one single screen in two dimensions is indeed a great challenge, especially because the starting point for both the eyes is only a single view. While some television models need the special glasses for viewing, there are other models too sans the glasses. 3D TV, therefore, is a significant breakthrough in the world of television viewing.

The CES 2010 showcased the might of the 3D television with almost all manufacturers showing off their specialized versions of the 3D TV with the Panasonic 3D Plasma TV being crowned with the winner product of CES 2010 award. It seems like a natural evolution to watch television in three dimensions. Not without problems though, since, many consumers across the world who would have splurged money on the latest flat screen televisions and high definition televisions would be willing to upgrade to 3D TV sets, especially in the current economic scenario. Another gigantic problem is the 3D content, since, there is no common standard for filming and transmitting 3D content in television. However, things are looking better and brighter by the day since lots of work is happening in this area. And, hopefully, by the end of 2010, 3D TVs should be compelling enough and equally appealing for the mass market in terms of technology, interest, affordability and of course, the inclination factor too.
