It was a lazy Sunday, and I was wondering whether to spend the whole day in peaceful slumber or to replenish my stocks! Well.. I was shocked to see that my fridge was almost empty with absolutely no beer cans and a few crumbs of sandwich breads, a small bottle of chocolate spread ready to run out of stock in another serving, couple of eggs and a small bacon packet. “Oh.. It’s high time to shop.” I sighed.. After a quick shower, I marked my weekly attendance in Spinney. Finishing the shopping in a jiffy, I walked to the nearby “Subway” to grab a BBQ burger. “WOW!!!” That is the first word I uttered seeing the slim rose black beauty clinging close to the shop’s wall.
In a couple of minutes I came to know that it is Samsung PS50B550 50” Plasma Television. Thanks to my Sony Vaio P Pocket PC. I browsed for the specifications of this television eagerly, and found that it is a Full HD Panel with mega contrast ratio. No wonder why the pictures are so sumptuous! It features FilterBright, the screen enhancement technology to ensure superior picture quality regardless the ambiance, and a good gradation too. However, I felt that the black levels are not matching my Panasonic VIERA television. This plasma display panel comes with interesting features like Cinema Progressive Mode, 3D Digital Comb Filter, swivel stand, Anynet+ (HDMI CEC), anti burn-in technology, etc.
While nibbling the burger with a heavy dab of mayonnaise and garlic sauce, I found that the connectivity options provided by this plasma television is quite appreciable. 4 HDMI inputs, component video connection, composite video connection, PC input, RF input, etc. are sufficient enough to satisfy a gizmo-maniac. I was surprised to see that this television is rendering a fair audio performance as well. When checked I understood that two down-firing speakers powering an output wattage of 20Watts is the “partner in crime”!!! SRS TruSurround HD is also housed in this display to enrich the audio output.
I was slightly cynical when it comes to the power ratings of this plasma television. However, Samsung PS50B550 Full HD Plasma Television stupefied me with a modest operational power of 250Watts and an almost negligible 0.3Watt standby power usage. I was almost jumping out of the seat when I realised that I spent nearly an hour adoring the beauty and performance of this telly leaving behind loads of week-end chores.
