With 3D imagery becoming the main focus of industry giants the world over in 2010, Sony has been showcasing its 3D prowess by bringing in new technologies and also, cutting edge electronics too. In fact, Sony has, more or less, positioned itself in the forefront, when it comes to the 3D market, and is aiming to become an undisputed global leader in this sector by churning out numerous 3D products, during the course of this year. For this, Sony is planning to use the PlayStation 3, or the PS3 as its vital foothold in the new market, through firmware updates which enable 3D functionality.
Sony is going at full throttle speeds in the 3D realm and has gone ahead and announced that the PS3 will definitely become fully 3D compatible, sometime in the latter part of this year. 2 firmware updates are on the cards, with the first one adding stereoscopic gaming functionality in 3D and the second one adding stereoscopic movie functionality in 3D. With many 3D products being highly priced, Sony is all set to please its PlayStation owners by announcing that they may receive a 3D gaming machine and a 3D movie player for free. Kudos to Sony for its relentless efforts towards 3D technology.
