According to Displaybank, a market research company, the shipment of plasma has seen a record number of 5 million plasma panels. This increment may be due to the decrease in the sales figure of plasma TV that was made to meet the decreasing price of the LCD TVs.

Plasma TVs were more expensive than the LCD panels because of the advanced technology packed within it and the performance of  the blacks in these televisions were of high level. Plasma sales began to decrease with the huge success of the LCD panels and because of the high quality images that are produced. Also the drop in the sales was due to the cease in the production of Pioneer panels.

Panasonic, Samsung and LG have brought down the price to that of LCD TVs, and since then have seen tremendous plasma TV sales.

According to Jusy Hong, a senior analyst in Display research group at Displaybank said that the current boom of the PDP panels is due to the continuous demand increase of the PDP TV and also due to the lower price compared to the LCD TV. LCD panel price is lowered due to the price declining gap that depend upon the supply and demand situation. PDP is continuously decreasing the price due to the widening of the price gap. He also added that the price of the LCD TV is expected to go down until next month and may increase slightly or remain at the same level from September. While, the price of PDP is expected to come down continuously during the second half of 2010.
