London: Panasonic launches a thin plasma TV model to challenge Samsung’s thin flagship plasma model. Panasonic’s use of the term Z1 series for its press material, bodes that the company would also plan different display sizes with the inch-thick panels. However, the model they are focusing on currently, is Panasonic TC-P54Z1 Plasma TV that comes with a 54” screen size.
The TC-P54Z1 would sport an enhanced 24p compatibility, high contrast, a 600 Hz sub-field drive, infinite black, Neo PDP panel and power saving features, apart from Digital Cinema Colour feature.
This move from Panasonic would have made a deep positive impact on the plasma TV market, considering the fact that this sector is comfortably dominated by LCD display models these days. However, it is also amusing musing over the future of this product in the European market, as various EU goverments have nearly decided on a ban on the plasma display.
