LG and Vudu have announced their partnership wherein Vudu’s on-demand IPTV services are to available on LG’s high definition televisions. Rather than having a separate Vudu set-top box, the latest NetCast series of TVs are to be provided access to on-demand rental as well as purchase of HD and full 1080p movies.
Reportedly, movies are made available via Vudu’s HDX format, with full HD 1080p resolution, instant rewind and fast-forward facility and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound system. Currently, Vudu has been observed to offer more than 2000 titles in HD and HDX resolution along with TV shows and SD films.
The update is to be rolled out into the existing LH-50 series and PS-80 series of internet connected HDTVs as well as on new sets starting from August 2009. According to sources, there in supposed to be no monthly fee for the Vudu service.
