Advantages and Disadvantages of OLED TVs

oled tv 243x300 Advantages and Disadvantages of OLED TVsOLED TVs are deemed to be the next biggest thing in television technology, thanks to its energy efficiency, no backlighting, ultra high contrast, amazing thinness and exceptionally good picture clarity. OLED TV stands for Organic Light Emitting Diodes TV. Its visual displays are based on the Organic LED technology that generates better brightness and top class image quality. The primary advantage of an OLED TV is its high energy efficiency levels that stems from the fact that since there is no requirement of backlights for functioning, it draws lesser power during operations. Hence, they can also display deeper black levels and be much lighter and thinner than almost all other televisions.

However, there are some disadvantages too. The biggest disadvantage faced by OLED TVs is the limited lifetime of its organic materials resulting in different colours having different lifetimes. Therefore, it is speculated that its colour picture quality may degrade over time. Although some manufacturers claim to be working on this part, it remains to be seen as to how effective their remedial measures are going to be as regards the lifespan of organic materials and colours. The other big disadvantage is that water entry may destroy or damage organic materials. This may again involve quite advanced sealing processes that may affect longevity and flexibility in displays of OLED TVs. Though given its perks and pitfalls, there is no denying that OLED TVs are taking the market by storm!
