Panasonic, the well-reputed Plasma display makers are about to launch the biggest Plasma television in Malaysia this week. The conceptual frame work of this screen was unveiled in the CES 2008, and sports tremendous features and unbelievable specifications. This giant comes with a enormous screen of 150″ diagonally, and has a leviathan contrast ratio of 4096 X 2160 pixels native display resolution. This is four times higher than the current Holy Grail for display resolution(1080p); 1920 X 1080 pixels. With an amazingly high contrast ratio, this screen is expected to render supreme images with excellent picture quality and life-like way.
Panasonic calls it “Life Screen”, and the big screen is capable of showing the images in the most natural and life-like way. The Life screen is the world’s biggest Plasma television, and is expected to be used mainly as public displays and in cinema theaters too. The power consumption of this television is surprisingly low, and the organisation claims 50% less power consumption compared to its conventional big screens with the help of double luminance efficiency. This display is 3.81m tall and ensures crisp and high quality images.
The power supply required for this television is 220 volts, and the Panny Design Engineers reveal that the biggest challenge was to attain the massive display resolution of 2160 X 4096 pixels. The glass used in this television has to be stronger compared to other displays since the glass needed is twice the surface area. The screen has 9606.45 square inches surface area, which is almost double that of the Sharp’s big-screen. Sharp’s 108″ LCD television was the biggest display till the conceptual launch of Panny 150″ plasma display, and now Sharp 108″ LCD Television is a dethroned emperor. This display is also called “Life Wall” soince it covers the whole wall which is the coolest part about this display. More features are yet to be revealed, and the technocrats are reported to be waiting for the launch of this display in Malaysia next week.
