July 2, 2009
LG, the king display makers from South Korea has taken the wraps off from their latest plasma television line-ups; PQ70 Plasma Television Series. LG 42PQ70 42” Plasma Television is the 42-inch member of this much-priced series. Taking a swift glance into the spec list, one will get the clear cut idea about the promised performance and picture quality. The high display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, ginormous dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, optimal brightness, etc. are some of the key factors for its good image rendition.
LG believes in enhancement techniques, and similar to its predecessor, this telly also houses a good range of enhancement features like clear voice technology, 600Hz sub-field driving, ultra responsive 0.001ms panel, Picture Freeze, etc. This display comes with an advanced screen enhancement technique as well to prevent the image distortions due to the ambient light. The best part of this display is its single layer design; a fresh paradigm yet to be adopted by many other leading plasma display makers!
Dual XD Engine, the crux of this display offers wonderful picture processing to reproduce exact duplicates of the video input signal. This plasma panel sports three HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Colour and a pair of component inputs to meet the connectivity demands of the users. Moreover Clear Voice Technology II, the renowned audio enhancement technique which is exclusively LG’s helps to deliver audio output with decent voice clarity. The black levels are good, but there is handful of other displays like Panasonic VIERA which can render deeper blacks.
The hotspot of this LG plasma television is the inclusion of Bluetooth facility. Now one can connect event their mobile phones to the big screen via Bluetooth and enjoy their shots! The movie freaks can enjoy the high quality DivX prints of their “all time fav flicks” in the LG 42PQ70 Full HD Display as well. With the appealing slim profile, this television measures around 1040.8 mm x 731.8mm x 308mm (including stand). This frameless beauty can make you spell bound with its charming external appearance and breath-taking performance as well.

Got something to say?

you may think you get what you pay for…but don’t fall into the trap of paying for the name. I’ve spent months researching and found negatives everywhere I turned…believe me when I say THE ONLY THING THAT IS WRONG WITH THIS TV IS THAT YOU HAVEN’T BOUGHT IT YET. And don’t worry about the sound issues, all LCDs struggle in that department, but I haven’t even had to turn on my surround sound yet. The speakers on this model are hidden behind the bezel (the frame part around the screen) and it almost sounds as good as a system, except for volume level, which is loud enough, but not ear-shattering.
Pros- Perfectly crisp picture in HD and a better than average picture in SD…except TBS, for some reason…
Super sound quality, sound seems to come from every direction. Sleek, attractive design goes well with any decor.
Lots of connectivity, 3 HDMI, 2 component, 2 RCA, 1 co-axial, USB, and VGA.
PS3 looks astounding on it.
No glare on the screen from external light sources.
