LG 42PC55 Plasma TV Review
May 7, 2007
The striking feature of LG 42PC55 Plasma TV is its relatively, affordable price as opposed to other Plasma TVs of similar size. With its 42â€? wide screen and a wide aspect ratio of 16:9, its price tag is well within £1000.
LG 42PC55 Plasma TV is compatible with 1080p resolution despite its 720p native resolution. It has an image scaler which can do both scaling-up and scaling-down. When you connect this TV with a full HDTV video source like DVD or HDTV channel, the pictures received from the sources are made to fit into the native resolution of this unit by scaling down of pixels. The image scaler also enhances the SDTV and other non-HDTV source matierials by its scaling-up technique and produces crisp, smooth and sharp pictures.
The design of LG 42PC55 is excellent especially its thin profile and glowing black frame surrounding its beautiful screen are strikingly attractive.

While the side panel features one S-video socket and one composite video input, other inputs like 2 HDMI sockets, 2 SCARTS and one component video socket are available on the rear panel. This unit is wall-mountable and you are provided with LG recommended wall bracket when you it.
The LG XD engine enhances the colour reproduction, whilte balance and contrast details. This unit has remarkably good specs like its native Resolution of 1024×768 pixels and its 15,000:1 contrast ratio. The scaling techniques which are used to process the pictures which are out of its native resolution are quite impressive. The pictures, whether from SDTV or HDTV, look sharp and realistic with excellent black levels and colour saturation.
The sound features of this plasma TV are quite decent. There are two stereo speakers which produce reasonably good sound effects in a room or a hall with good acoustics.
