No Intentions to Ditch Plasma TV Market: LG

February 28, 2009

LG made it clear that it is not withdrawing from the plasma TV market, responding to a story that had been on circulation for over a day that the Korean electronics giant was contemplating on withdrawing from the plasma TV market. This story had gained popularity since it followed Pioneer’s decision to bid adieu to the television sector.

george-mead-vice-president-lg-uk-on-the-right No Intentions to Ditch Plasma TV Market: LGDismissing any relevant possibilities, digital displays marketing manager for LG Electronics UK, George Mead told a gadget website that they had no intention to withdraw from the Plasma TV market. However, this statement of Mead, definitely does not blend well with the one given by their vice president early this week that if they would make the decision to ditch the market within the year if they could not draw the growth strategy.

In contrary to the statement of their vice president, Mead opines that even though he agreed that the world market for Plasma TVs should be undergoing a few significant changes that are obviously discussed at the global head quarters of LG, they (changes) were not grave enough to force them leave the Plasma TV market. He also added that LG recently have implemented a custom-made strategy to market plasma TVs in the UK market.

Recently, LG had launched a range of advanced plasma TVs that includes LG LH9000 Plasma TV that offers a wireless HDMI connection.
