Philips, Europe’s largest electronics company and a cosmopolitan leader in lifestyle and technology, launched a 42″ plasma TV that is well suited for public display applications. Philips BDH4251V/00 is a 42″ Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with multitude of features like motion adaptive deinterlacing, network controllability, HDMI etc. The resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels. The brightness is 1500 Cd/m2 and the dynamic contrast ratio is 15000:1. The aspect ratio is 16:9 and the display colours range is 1.07billion. The viewing angle is as wide as 178degrees and the vertical scanning frequency is from 50 to 85Hz. Many astute features are incorporated in this plasma TV for picture enhancement. The features include motion compensating deinterlacing, 3D Combfilter, progressive scan, colour enhancement, Automatic skin tone correction, 3D deinterlacing, noise reduction, and so on. The multi-screen preview features like picture by picture, picture in picture, etc are avaliable here too. The connectivity is good with PC interfaces like RS232, VGA-in D-Sub 15HD, VGA out D-Sub 15HD and D Sub 9. The audio input for PC includes 2 Audio connections Left/Right. The other connections include component, composite, Audio L/R, 2SCART connections and one HDMI. The connectivity of this XGA public display monitor is decent. There are many features that makes this monitor optimised for public viewing. They include HDMI, Motion Adaptive De-Interlacing, network controllable monitor etc. HDMI input for Full HD connection ensures 100 percent digital connection that offers the least blemishes in images. Flicker-less razor sharp images are assured by this technology.
The high brightness(1500Cd/m2) and contrast ratio(15000:1) are other helpful features for optimised public display. Motion adaptive de-interlacing is a de-interlacing algorithm that detects the type of video source whether it is still-picture or motion-picture or a movie and automatically adjusts the de-interlacing process with spatial, film mode or temporal de-interlacing. The operational flexibility is provided by network controllable monitor.
The network controllability is done through RS232 protocol. If you need to share the same input for more than one screen, then you can make use of its VGA loop. The hidden and lockable control buttons are another highlight, especially when Philips BDH4251V/00 XGA 42″ Full HD Plasma TV is placed in a public place. Image ghosting is one of the major bugbears faced by most of the UK Plasma TVs. Design Engineers have given immense care to rectify this defect. Inorder to banish the image ghosting, two features; pixel shift and burn-in recovery are incorporated in this display. Pixel shift automatically shifts the pixel to prevent the ghosting, and burn-in recovery makes sure to remove the ghosting if any. Another important feature of this PDP is the lead-free design that safeguards environment. The design vows compliance with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) standards that restricts toxic substances that tampers the ecological balance. The average panel lifespan is more than 60000 hours. The user friendly on-screen menu and screen saving functions like image reverse, low bright and pixel shift are added advantages. The operational power is 320W and the standby power consumption is less than 1W. The audio system effectuates even the subtle movements with naturality. The sound systems are mono and stereo and deliver a total output power of 2×10W. In a nutshell, this is a good display device, you can go for.
