3D Technology to Don a new AVATAR in this New Year, 2010
January 2, 2010
Three Dimensional Technology is bound to take a totally new form in 2010. 3D TVs are highly expected to break into households and television viewers all over the world will definitely get an out of the world experience, for sure. 3D TVs are also expected to steal the spotlight in the consumer electronics market, across the globe. The CES 2010 will showcase 3D technology at its brightest best with leading international players like Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and LG, displaying their latest 3D wares. In the near future, more and more 3D content may mean more and more 3D TV viewership, worldwide.
Not to forget the recently released 3D movie, AVATAR, the most expensive movie ever to be made, this James Cameron flick surpasses all your expectations in terms of outstanding 3D effects and its all-round technological excellence, making the graphics gorgeous, the characters, their movements and the entire surroundings in Pandora, quite stunning. In fact, the entire sequence seems so real and so close, as if they are happening in front of your eyes, taking all its viewers to a different world, a realm that is totally beyond our imagination and thus making this colourful extravaganza a completely successful endeavour in the depiction of a classical combination of spiritual essence and excellent technology. So, in terms of 3D movies, 3D TVs and 3D technology as such, one could refer to time in terms of Pre-AVATAR periods and Post-AVATAR periods.
3D technology, technically, is an illusion of depth. If you look at the overall scenario, 3D technology is one of the oldest tricks in the book, a conjuring trick on your visual cortex. Even though the screen in front of you contains dual images, the viewer interprets it as a single image of three dimensional depths. And, ultimately, what we get to see (or what we believe that we see) are the foreground, the background and the main images and characters. But to top it all, those bulky projectiles which seemingly threaten to jump straight out of the screen and right onto your laps, offer special effects, well, 3D’s USP is as old as film making itself.
But, not this time around, since, with AVATAR, it is not just a typical case of old wine in a new bottle, but you are also assured of something extra and quite unbelievable. Because, you get to see both horizontal and vertical depths on screen, what with Pandora’s floating mountains, fluorescent flowers, glowing landscapes, huge blue skinned Na’vis, luscious scenery and all, that coax you into a pleasant confusion of sorts, whether to look at the main action sequence or the surroundings, as such.
With the advent of AVATAR, the visual medium world is, more or less, convinced about the power of 3D, and the entire film and television industry is already moving at full throttle in galvanizing the 3D concept, not only for its sheer technical values but also in propelling it forward towards huge levels of commercial success too. As far as Metamorphosis is concerned, one can be bold and confident in saying that, this New Year, 2010, is bound to be phenomenal, a game-changer and of a clearly futuristic level for 3D Technology.
