goodmans-gtv42p2-pic2 Goodmans GTV42P2 Plasma TVOne has to raid a major share of the hard earned savings to own a high-end plasma TV. Goodmans has made public its latest model Goodmans GTV42P2 42″ Plasma TV for a reasonable price that is accessible to many. The 42″ widescreen Plasma TV has a display resolution of 852 x 480 pixels, which can support only conventional broadcast formats. The HDTV compatiblity is lacking, which can make this big screen defunct in a few years. The aspect ratio is 16:9 and the brightness is 650cd/m², which is relatively low. It works in 50Hz frequency with 2 in-built tuners. The HDReady TV has a good Sound system powered by Dolby virtual surround and NICAM digital stereo. There are 4 SCART connections and it features PIP too. The two speakers has 14W each and Goodmans GTV42P2 has an auto tuner apart from a sleep timer.

The DVI input makes the connectivity of Goodmans GTV42P2 Widescreen Plasma TV good but unfortunately it is not HDCP compatible. The other downsides include absence of component video inputs, the misty grey that denies robust deep blacks in the image, and so on. The images lack the vigour and brightness and is slighlty furryedged and soft. The video noise is quite obvious and colour stripping is also a matter of concern. Moreover DVI and VGA inputs are not configured for progressive scan or HD sources. Though the sharpness of the image is affected, Goodmans GTV42P2 has natural colours even for the skin tones. The speakers are average with good stagesound; but the poor midrange and bass performances may sound harsh in high volumes. Even the looks of the TV is moderate. No stylish flourishes, as in the conventional established brands like hitachi, pioneer, etc are there in Goodmans GTV42P2. Fastext feature is present. Freeview is avaliable in this Goodmans Plasma Television and 3D Digital Comb filter is present to filter the noise. It is not the right choice if you are expecting a dizzying performance like the well-known brands. But if you are ready to compromise for a moderate performance, this mid-budget big screen would not disappoint you.
