“It is going to be Pioneer KURO PDP LX508D Plasma TV and nothing else.”, declared Mr. Parker firmly with a frown. His palm which was clenched in a fist made a small thud on the table as he made the statement. “Absolutely no! If there is a plasma TV coming home, it will be Panasonic TH-50PZ800U Plasma TV only.”, returned Mrs Parker with equal firmness and maybe a tighter frown. The couple had planned on buying a plasma TV some time back, but were just not able to arrive at a mutual decision.
They sat glaring at each other wishing they could control each other’s choices. Venturing to break the silence and to try sorting out the difference in opinion, Mrs Parker said, “Fine. We shall discuss and put forth points and that might help us make the final choice.” Mr Parker nodded in agreement and added, “Yeah dear. Being a Technical Manager I knew you will come up with something to solve this amicably.”

“Well then shoot out.”

“Fine. My 50 inch Panasonic TH-50PZ800U Plasma TV does all that any Full HD TV can do in the market these days, but with magnificence. With a contrast ratio of 30,000:1, a variety of colours can be displayed on the screen. These colours are made deep and rich with the Deep Colour and the x.v.Colour technologies. Everything on TV will look so natural and life-like that you will never feel you’re watching TV, but that you are part of it. Just imagine watching those yummy cookery shows and those romantic movies.”, said Mrs Parker with a deep sigh, already imagining how she would be carried away during those mushy, romantic scenes. Then getting back to reality she added, “You can enjoy your action thrillers and sports as well.”

It has a contrast ratio of 20,000:1. This is less compared to your Panasonic, but remember that, Pioneer Kuro LX508D, true to its name produces deep black levels. So magestically deep, that your black hair dye will look lighter in front of it.” He flashed a teasy smile, looking at his wife as he made that last statement and then continued, “Moreover, the TV is equipped with the new Crystal Emissive Layer, which enhances the brightness and contrast of the screen. An intelligent image processor takes care of processing pictures for dark scenes and bright ones so that you can view every detail well in all kinds of scenes. Then there is the Deep Waffle Rib structure of the plasma cells that ensure that light and colour do not leak between them. You will surely love your cookery shows more and might end up drooling too.” He smiled again and added, “Wait, that’s not all. There are the noise reduction circuits. Not a spec of dot or blur or judder on the screen. My 50 inch TV will make everything look crystal clear, crisp and sharp.”

Grabbing the pause in her husband’s speech, Mrs Parker started, “Even my 50 incher has noise reduction technologies and sub-pixel control features built into it. There is an anti-reflective filter too that cuts out on-screen reflections, making for comfortable viewing. My Panasonic also features 24p Cinematic Playback, which will give you the theatre like experience while watching movies. The THX mode of the TV also plays a vital role in reproducing optimum colour, contrast and brightness. That’s not all, there is the 480Hz Sub-Field Drive which makes action movies look clear and vivid. Agile movements are made to appear smooth. You can also enjoy crystal clear pictures on the sports TV, like your watching it live. You could even picture the ball clearly when Kevin Pietersen strikes a sixer.”

“Pioneer’s Kuro plasma TV also plays 24 frames per second and makes movies look natural. I think when compared with any other plasma TV under the sun, you will agree with me that Pioneer LX508D can any day out-perform the others. Moreover, if you want to connect other picture sources to the TV, there are 3 HDMI inputs, 3 Scart inputs, component, composite and S-Video inputs, a USB port, slots to connect to external speakers, a headphone jack and a PC connecting input.”, said Mr Parker, in a winning tone.

“My dear. Let me tell you that Panasonic has equipped its’ TV with an extra HDMI input. So there are totally 4 HDMI connections offered by the TV. There are 2 each of component, composite and S-Video inputs, a PC input, an SD card slot and more. Then there is the Viera Link which enables you to control all AV devices connected to the TV with a single remote control. Now you don’t have to lose your temper with all the wires – fixing, disconnecting and messing up the place. Not just that, this Panasonic plasma TV comes with speakers included in the package, which have the BBE VIVA surround sound technology.”, said Mrs Parker.

“May be you need to buy speakers explicitly for mine, but whatever you say, you’ll be blown off your feet when you set your eyes on Pioneer LX508D and watch it performing. I’ll bet even my last penny on that.”, said Mr Parker, determined not to give up.

“Fine dear. But we need to check on our finance as well. The Pioneer will be heavier on our pocket than the Panasonic.”, said Mrs Parker finally.

“You are right about that, but shelling out a big sum just once for a marvel is fine. Right? It’s not going to happen everyday.”

They sat at the table for a while discussing further. Was it going to be Pioneer KURO PDP LX508D Plasma TV or Panasonic TH-50PZ800U Plasma TV? It was a difficult choice to make considering all the parameters. Not to turn their dining hall into a warzone, the level headed Mr and Mrs Parker finally settled on tossing a coin.
