Freeview is a new feature that was introduced in to the entertainment industry . It was launched in the year 2002. Freeview is a digital service that is mainly developed to watch free channels using the DVB-T standard through the TV aerial. About 48 digital TV channels can be watched and about 20 radio stations can be enjoyed at just a touch of a red button. To access Freeview channels you need to set up a box. You will not need to spend money on installation cost or subscription or there is no need of setting up ties or contracts or a satellite dish. You can watch programmes digitally easily. DVB-T or Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial is a standard for transmission of digital terrestrial television. Data such as compressed audio and video are transmitted by this system. The two carriers of data are 2K and 8K. The feature called ‘Guard level’ does not receive data from the receiver when there is a change in the data.
Necessity
You must be within the transmission range to get the extra Freeview channels. Free-to-air set up box will be required if you are within the transmission range. The next step will be to connect the TV aerial to the Freeview set up box and SCART lead from the Freeview set up box to the SCART socket. It is better to consider its features, price and connectivity before you get one of your own. During installation, you can make connection between the TV set and the roof top antenna or make connection between the TV and the roof top aerial.
Services
There are various services provided by the Freeview feature such as that you can receive the eight day programme list in advance. This helps the viewer to make arrangements accordingly. You can watch a programme and at the same time record the other. It is also possible to pause live TV and record your favourite programmes to the digital TV recorder. Some digital boxes come with parental feature to provide security to certain channels. Digital TV that is built with integrated Freeview system can telecast Freeview channels.
