flat screen tv1 300x300 Flat Screen Television TechnologySince the advent of colour televisions, the biggest technology revolution to hit the television market are the Flatscreen TVs. Flat panel Plasma TVs and LCD TVs are the order of the day, surely by choice. Though most people just put these tellies on the stand itself, Flatscreen TVs can be hung on the wall or over the fireplace and so on, thus adding aesthetic beauty to your home as well. Flat panel TVs generally comprise of two types, the Plasma and the LCD. A Plasma TV is much within the reach of shoppers, when compared with a LCD TV. Larger screen Plasmas are also largely inexpensive. Plasma TVs still rule the roost in terms of large screen sizes but LCDs are slowly closing the gap. Today’s technological advancements in flat screen televisions make way for a wide range of choices such as Plasma TVs, LCD TVs, Projection TVs and so on. Even the CRTs, these days, can be made fairly flat and large as well. All these flat screen technologies sell at a brisk pace since they provide a totalitarian advantage over all the other technologies.

Flats screens are also big screens these days. Televisions form a core component of home theater systems, thus providing a techno look and a state-of-the-art feeling. Talking of big screen TVs, the most important piece of information one has to consider is the diagonal screen size. In this regard, rear projection TVs have screen sizes that are much larger. Front projection TVs function like a movie projector for televisions. They would form an impressive part of the home theater systems, but, for optimal viewing, they need darkness. LCD TVs are quite thin and go on to offer brilliant picture quality. But when compared to Plasmas, LCDs come in smaller sizes. That brings us to the big daddy of them all, the Plasma TV. The CES 2010 showcased a 150 inch Plasma TV from none other than Panasonic. Plasma TVs have been a great sensation as far as the consumer TV world is concerned, , over the decade. Plasma TVs are not only thin, they also offer great picture quality as well along with their unique feature, they offer more screen per screen.

In today’s world, most of the flat panel TVs are the wide-screen, high definition (HDTV) sets. Before purchasing a Flatscreen TV, you can check whether it handles DVD and HDTV signals as well as is the cable and satellite signals. You can also compare various picture displays as well while looking for good levels of black tones, video settings and more. Last but not the least, you need to get to know your TV remote as to things such as a user friendly menu, the button settings, backlighting and so on. Because, a good remote control can become your best friend while a bad one can become otherwise. Flatscreen televisions have endeared themselves to consumers in today’s TV market in a large way.
