“Oh.. Give me a break”, one might think so seeing the overwhelming specifications of the contemporary televisions. Full HD, 24p film mode, screen enhancements… there goes there long list of techniques employed by the manufacturers. Although, they are innovative and quite efficient, most of the technologies used in the present day displays lost its novelty due to the repetitive usage! Although, 3D Television is a much discussed concept, it is still fresh and novel as a steaming hot pizza right from the oven. The 3D technology is expected to create a new boom in the display domain.

With Sky launching 3D television channel, it is speculated that all major display makers have geared up their steps for equipping the 3D Ready Televisions. The rumours about the 3D Television launch has already started ringing here and there. The hot info that is spreading like a wild fire is the LG’s plan to launch the 3D Television soon. Choon Lee, the VP Director, Digital TV Research Lab has expressed his excitement in the launch of 3D Televisions soon. He revealed that 3D televisions is indeed a big leap for LG, and included that they are planing to try out a 3D Television in one or two chosen markets in 2009 itself.

Since trying out 3D is quite easy in animation content, it is speculated that comics and shopping are the maiden treat from the 3D tellies. According to a recent report, LG will start the sales of their maiden 3D attempt quite soon. The first 3D Telly from LG is a 47 incher; christened LG 47LH50 Television, showcased impressive performance in the CES Demo. After enjoying a comical ride in the LH-50 television, most of the display enthusiasts pointed out that the realistic colour gamut along with the less strained viewing pleasure are the best part of this television. Unlike some of the demoed 3D Televisions (CES 2009) that offered a stressful viewing and a pair of eyes craving for a Swedish eyeball massage, LG 3D Television was comparatively better when it comes to the viewing comfort.

Although, the “to be released” LH50 is an LCD display, we can expect 3D TVs in plasma panels as well. LG had demoed a couple of 3D TVs in plasma panels (prototypes of course!!!), that too with an amazing 55 inch and 60 inch screen size. No words are confessed about the price of this magic box.
